Limerick Honors Celtic Legend Shane MacGowan with New Single "The One and Only You"
BRISBANE, QLD – Award-winning Modern Celtic Band Limerick is set to release their latest single, "The One and Only You," a high-octane, heartfelt tribute to the late Shane MacGowan.
Written by the band’s vocalist and bassist Belle Hendrik, the track captures the raw energy and soulful grit that has made Limerick a staple of the Australian music circuit. The song is a definitive statement of the band’s unified sound, featuring the rhythmic guitar fire of Tim Cody, the virtuosic, award-winning strings of Rabbit Robinson, the melodic anchor of Hendrik, and the driving heartbeat of drummer Craig Tobin.
Reflecting on the legacy of the legendary Pogues frontman, the single’s centerpiece lyrics—penned by Hendrik—serve as a stirring eulogy to a folk-punk icon:
“You are a mountain big and strong, you’re a chaotic poetic song, hold your cheer and sing all night. Big and bright was your light.”
"We wanted to create something that wasn't just a lament, but a 'beer-stomping' celebration of a life lived loud," Belle explains. "It’s about the mountain of a man who changed the way we all hear Celtic music."
Coming off the back of their "Best New Band" win at the Australian Celtic Music Awards, Limerick continues to bridge the gap between tradition and modern rock. "The One and Only You" highlights the band’s tight-knit musicianship and their ability to turn a tribute into a soaring, anthem-like experience.
"The One and Only You" will be available on all major streaming platforms via G.Y.R.O on 19th April 2026 Available on Amrap and Bandcamp
